A killer conditioned Civil War, original cased with all original implements, big frame, .44 cal. Tranter percussion revolver with owners name on the side of barrel. When this revolver was sold out of Florida over 30 years ago it was stated that this revolver belonged to a Confederate, Robert Thorpe who was a surgeon. Archive records show a R.H. Thorpe who was a surgeon in the 49th North Carolina Inf. He was also listed as H.R. Thorpe. Have the archives records on this CS Surgeon. The Tranter revolver is in great condition with around 80%+ original blueing & bright finish on certain parts. 6" oct. barrel with Wilkinson & Son, London on top strap. Front sight intact & has good bore & has R L Thorpe on side. Frame is mkd Tranter's patent & small HH on one side & on the other is No.7447.T. Cylinder has the same markings as a CS bought Kerr rev. or England mfrd LeMat revolver with crown over V & crown over GP.These mks are in between the nipples  & a rope design around the front of the cylinder. The revolver has floral engravings on the barrel, frame, butt plate, trigger guard, Backstrap & Loading lever. The  loading lever is finished in the bright & is marked "Tranter's Patent" & has engraved screw head. The hammer & trigger are also finished in the bright. The wood, checkered, grips are in excellent condition. Revolver has lever to lock the cylinder. An overall excellent conditioned Tranter 6 shot percussion revolver. The original wood case is in good condition with original green felt lining & has two compartments with the lids on cover are ivory. The original implements are powder flask, Bullet mold, wrench handled pick, metal container for grease & wood container with two extra nipples, wood cleaning rod, leather pouch with original concial bullets & pouch with orignal caps. Inside of lid has label of Wilkinson & Son  Gun & Sword manufacturers to her Majesty, London. A really excellent cased, large Frame, Tranter revolver belonging to CS Surgeon.
